Category Scope Console Guide

This page is a complete guide to the Category Scope section of the Namirasoft Field Console. A Category Scope is a named set of related choices, called Categories, that you place on other products through Slots. Use this guide to understand each setting you configure when creating a Category Scope.

What Is a Category Scope?

A Category Scope is a named collection of related Categories, such as Status with Open and Closed, or Department with Sales and Support. You place a Category Scope on a product with a Slot, and users then pick one of its Categories on each record.

Why Category Scopes Matter

When every product keeps its own copy of a choice list, the options drift apart and reporting becomes unreliable. A Category Scope defines the list once so the same choices appear everywhere you use it.

You create a Category Scope, add its Categories, and place it wherever it is needed with a Slot. With Category Scopes in place, you gain:

  • One consistent set of choices reused across products.
  • Clean, comparable data because everyone selects from the same list.
  • A single place to add or rename a choice.

Overview of Category Scope Fields and Options

The sections below explain each field you set when creating a Category Scope. You add the individual choices to it as Categories, described in the Category Console Guide.

  • ID (String): The ID is a system generated identifier assigned to the Category Scope when it is created. You do not set it yourself; Namirasoft Field uses it internally to reference the Category Scope.

  • User ID (Namirasoft Account’s ID): The user ID shows which Namirasoft Account created the Category Scope. It links it to its owner and is used to manage permissions and history.

  • Workspace ID (Namirasoft Workspace’s ID): The workspace ID refers to a workspace created in the Namirasoft Workspace app, which lets you group Category Scopes by project, team, or environment.

  • Name (String): The name is the label of the choice set, for example Status, Department, or Region. Choose a clear name that describes what the Categories inside it represent.

  • Description (String): The description is an optional note explaining the purpose or usage of the Category Scope. It helps other users understand what the choice set is for.

  • Created At (DateTime): Created At shows the date and time when the Category Scope was created. It is set once and does not change.

  • Updated At (DateTime): Updated At shows the date and time when the Category Scope was last changed. It updates whenever you edit it.
