📘 Namirasoft Password Extension Guide
Guide Overview
This guide explains how the Namirasoft Password browser extension works, what each feature does, and how it interacts with your password vault while you browse. It focuses on extension specific actions such as showing saved passwords, generating new ones, saving entries on the fly, and managing vault access.
Introduction to the Namirasoft Password Extension
The Namirasoft Password browser extension allows users to securely access, generate, and store passwords directly on website login and sign up pages. It works alongside the Namirasoft Password Console, using the same encrypted vault and Master Password, while keeping sensitive operations under user control during browsing.
Extension Features and Interface
Each section below explains a core feature available inside the extension. These features are automatically activated based on the page you are visiting.
-
Show Passwords: This feature provides access to saved password entries that match the domain of the website being visited. Only entries associated with that website are displayed, allowing users to choose the correct saved password when signing in. The popup appears automatically on login pages and supports multiple entries for the same domain. Related Console Entity: Entry
-
Add Password: This feature allows users to save new password entries while browsing. It is typically used after registering or logging into a website for the first time. The popup lets users store the password along with related details so it becomes available for future logins. Related Console Entity: Entry
-
- Name (String): This is a human-readable label for the entry. This is how you recognize the entry in lists and popups. Choosing clear and descriptive names makes it easier to select the correct entry when multiple passwords exist for the same domain.
-
-
URL (Website Address): This defines the website or domain this entry is associated with. This field is used by the browser extension to determine when to show passwords on the login page of the website you are visiting. The extension identifies the URL automatically, but double check to ensure it is correct.
-
-
- Group (Enum): This allows you to associate the entry with a Group you have created. Groups are used purely for organization and recognition and help you categorize entries (for example, Work, Personal, Finance). Assigning a group is optional and does not affect how the entry functions.
-
-
Entry Line (String): Entry Line defines a single piece of information stored inside a password entry. Each password entry can include one or more entry lines, depending on how a website’s login or sign-up form is structured. This allows users to store all required login details for a website in one place, even when the website uses multiple fields or non-standard authentication forms.
-
Entry lines are fully customizable. Users can add new entry lines, edit existing ones, or remove unnecessary fields to match the exact information a website asks for.
By default, the browser extension includes username and password entry lines, since most websites require these fields. These default entry lines help users get started immediately, while still allowing full flexibility for websites that require additional or different information.
-
-
Sensitive (Yes/ No): This checkbox controls whether the Entry Lines are treated as sensitive data. When enabled, these fields receive additional protection and are handled cautiously across the console and extension, helping prevent accidental exposure.
-
-
-
New Entry Line: This feature allows users to add personalized information to the entry they are adding.
-
-
Generate Password: This feature allows users to create strong passwords directly on password fields during sign up or password change flows. Generated passwords are created using templates defined in the Console. Users select a template and the extension fills the password field automatically. Related Console Entity: Template
-
Unlock Vault: This option controls access to the password vault inside the extension. When locked, no passwords or entries are accessible. Unlocking requires entering the Master Password, ensuring sensitive data remains protected even if the browser session is active.
-
- Master Password: The Master Password is the primary password chosen by the user to protect access to their Namirasoft Password vault. It is required to unlock saved entries in both the web console and the browser extension. The Master Password is never stored by Namirasoft and is used only to decrypt the user’s encrypted data locally. Without this password, stored entries cannot be viewed or accessed.
-
- Retention Duration: This option defines how long the vault remains unlocked after the Master Password is entered. During this period, users can access their entries without re-entering the Master Password. Once the retention time expires, the vault automatically locks again, requiring the Master Password to restore access. This setting allows users to balance convenience and security based on their usage preferences.
-
Lock Vault: This option immediately disables access to all extension features. Locking the vault ensures that saved passwords cannot be accessed until the Master Password is entered again.
