How It Works FAQs
Common questions about setting up and using volumes in Namirasoft NWS Volume.
1. Do I need an account to get started?
Yes. Create a free Namirasoft Account to access Namirasoft NWS Volume and every other Namirasoft application.
2. What is the difference between Namirasoft managed storage and connected external storage?
Namirasoft managed storage is created and hosted entirely by Namirasoft. You do not bring any storage of your own, Namirasoft provides and runs it for you. Connected external storage is storage you already own with another provider, such as Google Drive, Amazon S3, or SFTP. You connect it to Namirasoft NWS Volume and manage it in one place, while the data stays in your own provider account.
3. What storage types can I connect?
You can connect a wide range of storage, including major cloud object storage, SFTP, and many more. See Storage Types in the Volume Console Guide for the full list and the fields each one needs.
4. Is a Log Group required?
No. A Log Group is optional. You can add or change it at any time to record activity for your volume in Namirasoft Log.
5. Do I need credentials for every volume?
Credentials are needed only for connected external storage, so Namirasoft NWS Volume can access your account securely. Namirasoft managed storage does not require credentials.
6. Can I create more than one volume?
Yes. You can create as many volumes as you need, each with its own type, region, settings, and access. The cost depends on each volume's type and usage, so see the Pricing page for details.
7. Can I change a volume later?
Yes. The console lists all your volumes, and you can open any one to edit its settings, Log Group, and other details at any time.
8. Where can I find help with a specific field?
The Volume Console Guide explains every field for every storage type, including where to find each value.
Pricing FAQs
Find details about how pricing works in Namirasoft NWS Volume.
1. How is managed storage measured and billed?
Managed storage is billed per TB, per month. Fixed Size is billed on the capacity you reserve. Flexible Size and Namirasoft S3 are billed on the storage you actually use during the month.
2. Why do Fixed, Flexible, and Namirasoft S3 cost different amounts?
Each storage type is built for a different use case. Fixed Size and Flexible Size are managed volume storage for applications and systems that need persistent, directly usable capacity. Namirasoft S3 is object storage for files, backups, and archives, which is priced lower than volume storage.
3. For connected external storage, do I also pay my provider?
Yes. Your storage provider bills you directly for the storage itself. The only thing you pay Namirasoft for external storage is a usage fee on the data you read and write.
4. Why is there a fee for connecting external storage?
Connecting external storage brings it into the same console, workspaces, and access controls as your Namirasoft storage, with credentials kept in Namirasoft Secret. The fee applies to the data you read and write through that connection.
5. How is the external usage fee measured?
It applies to the data you read and write through the connection during the month. Storage you connect but do not access is not charged by Namirasoft.
6. Is there a minimum or a setup fee?
No. There is no minimum and no setup fee. You pay only for what you use, billed monthly.
7. Can I mix managed and external storage on one account?
Yes. You can use Namirasoft managed storage and connected external storage together in the same workspace, managed from one console.
8. Can I cancel anytime, and what happens to my data?
Yes, you can cancel anytime. Your external connections simply stop being managed here, and your own storage stays with your provider. For managed storage, you can export or remove your data before you close the volume.
