Company Console Guide
This page provides a complete guide to the Company section of the Namirasoft ERP Console. A company is the top level entity you keep books for, and everything else in your accounting is organized beneath it. This guide explains each field on the Company form.
What Is a Company?
A company is a legal entity that keeps its own set of books, such as your business or one of several businesses you manage. Its branches, fiscal years, accounts, and journal entries all belong to it, and its financial reports summarize everything recorded under it.
Why the Company Matters
The company is the boundary of a complete set of books. Setting it up correctly, including the accounts used when a year is closed, ensures your reports balance and that year end processing posts profit and retained earnings where they belong.
How Namirasoft ERP Handles Companies
You create a company, then add branches and fiscal years under it and build its chart of accounts. You can also point the company at the accounts it should use for the current year result and for retained earnings, which the system uses when you close a fiscal year.
Overview of Company Fields and Options
The sections below explain each field on the Company form.
-
ID (String): This is the unique identifier automatically assigned to the company by Namirasoft ERP when it is created. You do not enter this value; it is used internally to reference the company.
-
User ID (Namirasoft Account’s ID): This is the unique ID of the Namirasoft Account that created the company. It links the record to the user who owns it for access control and history.
-
Name (String): This is the name of the company as it should appear on your records and reports, such as the registered business name.
-
Current Year Profit and Loss Account (String): This is the optional account that holds the net result of the current year, the difference between income and expense. When you close a fiscal year, the system uses this account to carry the year’s profit or loss.
-
Retained Earnings Account (String): This is the optional equity account that accumulates profits kept in the business over time. At year end the closing process moves the year’s result into this account so it carries forward into the next year.
-
Enabled (Boolean): This controls whether the company is active and available for new records. Turn it off to retire a company while keeping its history intact.
-
Description (String): This is an optional note where you can record details about the company, such as its role or registration information.
-
Created At (DateTime): This shows the exact date and time the company was created. It is set automatically and does not change.
-
Updated At (DateTime): This shows the last time the company was edited. It helps you track when the record was last maintained.
