What Is an Odometer Reading?

An odometer reading is the distance shown on a vehicle’s odometer at a point in time. Logging readings over time builds a picture of how far a vehicle has traveled, which drives distance based maintenance and fuel analysis.

 

Why Odometer Readings Matter

Distance is what triggers much of a vehicle’s upkeep, from oil changes to tire replacement. Recording readings keeps maintenance plans accurate and lets you measure fuel efficiency, so you always know when work is due.

 

How Namirasoft ERP Handles Odometer Readings

You log a reading for a vehicle with its date and value in the vehicle’s unit. Namirasoft ERP uses these readings to track distance traveled and to tell you how close each distance based maintenance plan is to being due.

 

Overview of Odometer Fields and Options

The sections below explain each field on the Odometer form.

• ID (String): This is the unique identifier automatically assigned to the reading by Namirasoft ERP when it is created. You do not enter this value; it is used internally to reference the record.

• User ID (Namirasoft Account’s ID): This is the unique ID of the Namirasoft Account that created the reading. It links the record to the user who owns it for access control and history.

• Company (String): This is the company the reading belongs to.

• Branch (String): This is the branch, a location or division within the company, that the reading is recorded under.

• Vehicle (String): This is the vehicle the reading is for, chosen from your fleet.

• Date (DateTime): This is the date the reading was taken. It places the reading on the vehicle’s distance history.

• Reading (Number): This is the distance shown on the odometer, entered as a whole number, such as 45200.

• Unit (Enum): This is the unit of the reading. Choose KM for kilometers or Mile for miles, to match how the vehicle’s odometer reads.

• Description (String): This is an optional note where you can record the context of the reading, such as where it was taken.

• Created At (DateTime): This shows the exact date and time the reading was created. It is set automatically and does not change.

• Updated At (DateTime): This shows the last time the reading was edited. It helps you track when the record was last maintained.
