Protocol FAQs

Answers to common questions about setting up protocol credentials.

1. What is the difference between Basic Auth and Token Auth?

Basic Auth uses a username and password, and Token Auth uses a single secret token.

2. When do I need the Host variant?

You choose Host Basic Auth or Host Token Auth when the credential should also carry the service host.

3. What happens if my password or token changes?

Your authorized applications read the value from this one credential each time they connect, so you update it in one place and they all use the new value automatically.
